Portland Favorite: The Side Door
In our quest to provide you with a ton of hot local spots around Portland, we bring you one of our favorite sandwich places.
Best Sandwich
The Side Door (425 SE Washington St) - We hit this place up on Tuesday night after that disappointing loss to the Magic and our spirits were almost immediately lifted. First off, I must say that our waitress was one of the coolest waitresses ever. She gave us options, worked with us, told us what was good/not good and was around just the perfect amount of time.
So what did I order? The Stark Dip. The most fantastic french dip I've had in years my friends. They give you a solid stack of beef, cheese, and top all that with a horseradish aioli which is to die for. Oh, and the au jus hits the damn spot as well. Everyone else at the table with us gobbled down soups or other ridiculously delicious looking sandies and came away completely satisfied.
Plus, they have a full bar. Enough said?

The Cuban at Salvadore Molly's.
I also once had a chicken salad sandwich at Bistro 921 that was incredible. It was one of their daily specials and not on the regular menu.
If you like French Dips, you should get the Dip at the Deschutes Brewpub. Fan-tastic.
Very nice, I'll have to check all of those out.
The new Deschutes in the Pearl is very nice. I had their buffalo burger and it was damn good. And of course, the beer is what it's all about.
I prefer any one of the $5 footlongs at Subway, does it get any better than that?
I will admit that I've taken down a few footlong meatballs in my day.
Monte Cristo at Tabor Hill Cafe on Hawthorne. Probably my favorite anything in Portland.
I've heard of the Tabor Hill...guess I better get my arse there. Thanks for the tip.
